Dr. Kenneth J. Doka

About Pastor doka

Dr. Kenneth J. Doka is an ordained Lutheran pastor and throughout his career as a College Professor served a series of congregations in New York and Danbury, CT as a vacancy pastor and as a worker-priest. A graduate of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, he was ordained in 1973.

Professor Emeritus at the Graduate School of The College of New Rochelle and Senior Vice-President of the Hospice Foundation of America. He is one of the authors of the text, Dying & Death: Life & Living. A prolific author, Dr. Doka has authored or edited near 40 books as well as over 100 articles and book chapters. His newest book The Edge of Forever explores extraordinary experiences around death and dying. Dr. Doka is editor of both Omega: The Journal of Death and Dying and Journeys: A Newsletter to Help in Bereavement. He has an ongoing blog for Psychology Today entitled Good Mourning.

Pastor Doka has one son (and daughter-in-law) and two grandchildren who live near him in Poughkeepsie, NY. He enjoys swimming, skiing, and scuba diving.
